STEP 1
Take the first end of the shock cord, and make a crossing turn.
STEP 2
Take the second end, and make a crossing turn through the loop created in the first end.
STEP 3
Make the final loop, by threading the two loose ends through the middle loop, formed by step 1 & 2
STEP 4
Tighten down, by pulling the loose ends away from the long ends
The 'Ashley's Bend' knot is a very strong and secure join when used on similar cords; it does not slip even when under severe shock loads, but can be untied easily if needed.
