Gauge

The gauge or console (if more than 1 gauge), is important for you to monitor your remaining air, depth, direction, etc.  A single pressure gauge maybe OK, if you wear a dive computer, but you should always consider safety and backup; what would you do if your computer failed, could you complete a safe ascent using the gauges you have?
